Your telephone's LCD screen has an adjustable contrast, meaning how light or dark the text appears on the screen. In some cases, this can be accidentally adjusted until the text is unreadable, either because it's too light, or because the screen is almost completely dark. Here's how to adjust your screen's contrast:
While the phone is not in use, and the receiver hand set is hung up, use the up/down volume keys (in the lower-right corner of the phone's keypad) to adjust the screen lighter or darker. Note that these keys only adjust the screen contrast when the phone is not in use!
Incidentally, at up/down button performs other actions, depending on the current state of your phone:
While the phone is ringing, up/down adjusts the ring volume.
While in a call using the handset, up/down adjusts the speaker volume of the handset receiver
While in a call using the speakerphone, up/down adjusts the external speaker volume.
